FAQ: What do if I have to go to work?

The typical eight or ten hour work day is too long to confined you puppy to a crate. Come home
for a lunch break or hire someone to come in to feed and play with your puppy. If that is out of
the question and you have to leave for more than two hours then use and exercise pen
(30"-36" high).

  • These portable pens can be purchased at many pet stores. Place the pen in
an area that would be easy to clean where there are no rugs. May be the
    kitchen, bath or laundry room.

  • Put newspaper down on one side of the pen and the bed on the other side.

  • Give your puppy water in a hook-on pan and a dish of kibble.

  • Add a few toys and chews and your puppy should be very comfortable until
    you get back home.
Never leave your puppy alone in the house. Life is better if you don't come home to a chewed up
chair, the ransacked garbage can or quarter sized pieces toilet paper all over the house. And
let's not forget the electrical cords; puppies can be very drawn to the taste of electrical cord
coverings.
FAQ: What do I feed my puppy?

A puppy should be fed three times a day after the weaning cycle. To start with, moisten 1/2 cup of
Eukanuba small bite puppy kibble with hot water. Mix in 1 tablespoon of canned meat for flavor.
You may substitute boiled chicken or hamburger.

  • Most poodle puppies will not over eat. Make sure your puppy gets all he wants.

  • If your puppy eats all of his food then increase the amount at each feeding. If
your puppy does not eat all of his food then cut back at each feeding.

  • At four to six months you can cut back to feeding twice a day and increase the
amount of food at each feeding. By the time your puppy is one year cut feeding
    to once a day.

  • Transition to adult food should begin at about 9-12 months if you puppy is
staying in good weight. If your puppy is on the thin side then continue to feed
puppy kibble or Eukanuba Performance kibble for the additional calories.

  • Always leave fresh water where the puppy has easy access to the dish.

  • Use dog cookies and freeze dried liver for treats and training. Don't overfeed
treats! Two to three pieces a day is enough until your puppy is older.
