Bar King Miniature Poodles have been an active force in the Poodle world for over forty-five years. Located northeast of Sacramento, California, Kathy and her Miniature Poodles have competed all over the United States and have won many accolades from judges as well as fellow breeders. Over the decades she has dedicated herself to breed to the "ideal AKC standard" of the Miniature Poodle. Kathy has consistently bred beautiful Miniature Poodles with exquisite temperaments. She breeds predominantly black, brown, white, and cream Miniature Poodles. While the primary interest in breeding is for the show ring there are Miniature Poodle pet puppies on occasion. Bar King was established in 1963. Kathy acquired her first poodle in 1961... Le Gran Mouvis Jean...translated, Big Bad John. He was her first show dog, that is, CD obedience dog. They completed the CD requirements is their first three shows. For Kathy, the obedience ring soon gave way to the competition in the conformation ring.

Over the years the Bar King has produced over 100 champions in three breeds. Amongst these champions there are 5 group winners, 3 BIS winners 30 Specialty BIS Breed winners. Also, 4 top producing dogs, 8 top producing bitches including the top winning, multiple Best in Show winner Ch. Bar King's Scintilla: She is the dam of 14 champions. Scintilla was a multiple all-breed BIS and Specialty BIS winner. In 1985 she was the Quaker Oats Non-Sporting Dog of the Year. Scintilla won the Poodle Club of America's Veteran class in1994 at the age of 12. Scintilla is the epitome of the years of breeding...the realization of a breeder's dream.
